Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart seeks an energetic and creative chef to lead its food program. This person will be responsible for menu creation and preparation along with serving students and staff daily, with the help of volunteers and kitchen staff.

Along with daily lunch program, this position will oversee a grab-and-go snack bar.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Manage food preparation and service for the lunch program.

· Manage employees and students assisting with lunch preparation.

· Ensuring that the lunch program complies (including food handling, storage preparation, service and storage) with food safety standards

· Development of menus

· Maintaining food costs

· Managing inventory and quality of products and supplies

· Ordering of supplies and foods

· Maintaining standards for sustainability and working to improve constantly

· Clean-up of lunch service (food storage, composting, dishes, trash, sweeping, mopping)

· Maintain regular cleaning of equipment and plan for deep cleaning at times when service is not offered. (cleaning fridges, storage spaces, composting expired food)

· Work with the business office to keep track of employee hours, invoices from vendors and maintaining deposits of cash and checks coming into the program.

· Offer assistance with other lunches/events at the school as available

· Work to maintain the garden and use of the items grown.

· Try to accommodate allergies/food related issues as best possible.

· Communicate with students and families regarding food issues, questions and general correspondence.

· Work with Communications department to highlight/promote menu

· Make use of work study students to assist with dishes/cleaning/etc.

· Baking/preparing items for the snack bar
