Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Alumni and Annual Giving Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategiesto cultivate and maintain positive connections between the school and its alumni, parents, and
donors to further the mission and goals of Gross Catholic. Reporting to the Vice President of
Advancement, she or he identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards prospects and new donors
and maximizes annual gifts from continuing donors. The Alumni and Annual Giving Officer is an
effective communicator who contributes to a faith and family based, service-oriented school
culture.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Promote and uphold the school's Marianist mission and commitments.
• Create and implement annual fund initiatives: outline objectives, strategies, financial
goals, budget, timelines, and evaluation for each component of the annual giving program.
• Manage a portfolio of 50-75 alumni, current parents, parents of alumni, and corporate
donors capable of making charitable gifts to the annual fund and its priorities.
• Partner with the advancement team to plan and implement parent, alumni, and donor
engagement and recognition activities.
• Work with current advancement programs and school initiatives and establish new
programs and objectives to significantly increase parent, alumni, and donor annual
giving in both funds raised and participation levels; manage in-person, social media,
phone, and direct mail gift solicitations.
• Coordinate with the Vice President of Advancement follow-up of all activities to connect
with the moves management for personal solicitations.
• Track and report progress toward goals on a monthly basis to the Advancement Committee.
• Serve as a liaison to the Alumni Committee, coordinating initiatives and programs that
engage graduates, including multi-year reunions.
• Recruit, manage, and support high-level volunteers to extend the reach of advancement
efforts beyond advancement staff.
• Collaborate with other departments, including Admissions and Athletics, to engage
constituents in the life of the school.
• Update contact notes and information in the donor CRM database in an accurate and
timely manner.
• Professionally represent Gross Catholic at all times.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in related field is desired (philanthropy, business, public
administration, communication, marketing, etc.). Experience may substitute for
education.
• Three to five years of experience working in a nonprofit or fundraising office; experience
in school development office a plus.
• Record of accomplishment in financial gift solicitations through direct mail, online, and
personal solicitation initiatives.
• Knowledge of fundraising best practices in alumni and annual giving.
• Proficiency in a CRM system, such as Donor Perfect, or willingness to learn and follow
procedures for tracking meetings, mailings, and donor interactions.
• Experience engaging and communicating effectively with a wide range of constituents:
students, graduates, parents, grandparents, corporate donors, community stakeholders.
• Ability to facilitate strong communications with alumni, including letters, surveys, and
social media.
• Proficient writing, interpersonal, and public speaking skills; ability to give effective
presentations.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends; some travel
required to meet donors in the community.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and work independently while contributing to
the team.
• Must exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
• Consistently model a high degree of customer service and focus on the donor,
connecting their goals for charitable giving to the school's mission and needs
