Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Catholic Schools Office is looking for a School Health and Safety Specialist to support leaders in improving instructional practices for school health and safety. The person will work with the Catholic Schools Office and school principals to determine evidence-based strategies within the NeMTSS framework to support overall culture, health and safety.

The School Health and Safety Specialist will support programing related to: MTSS/mental health, integrated systems for students and families, school culture, trauma informed practices, social/emotional learning, restorative practices, equitable classrooms, student retention and transition supports for college and career readiness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Provide expertise and leadership on matters related to school culture, health and safety professional development for teachers and leaders
-Establish relationships and community partnerships with local organizations that support school culture, health and safety and an integrated system for students and families.
-Create a curriculum outline that intersects social emotional learning, restorative practices, trauma-informed practices within the PBIS framework
-Lead school culture, health and safety efforts for Omaha Catholic schools in collaboration with the Archdiocese
-Serve on the School Equity and Diversity Committee as a resource to the team
-Provide supports to leaders in development of strategic planning goals related to school culture, health and safety as related to social emotional development and leads to retention of students and college-career readiness
-Collaborate with the CSO in using the MTSS framework to support school culture, health and safety across all of our Catholic schools
-Monitor progress of schools’ health and safety processes through data supports and partnerships such as CASEL, SHAPE and NeMTSS
-Create a conflict mediation support system for schools to use when conflict arises

Education and Experience
Education and Experience Required:
• A minimum of 5 years teaching experience
• A valid Nebraska teaching license

• Administrative or program leadership experience
• Master’s degree in related field
• Cultural equity experience
