Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Catholic Schools Office (CSO) is looking for a Social Emotional Learning Coach to serve and support school leaders in the integration of social emotional competencies across their school community. This position will begin in the pilot schools. The person will work with the CSO and the pilot school principals to support programing related to: the CASEL framework, a tiered system for SEL, restorative practices, SEL instructional practices, and SEL curriculum and instructional material support. The SEL Coach will also be coaching teachers to improve their SEL practices in their classrooms.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Provide expertise and leadership on matters related to social-emotional learning through professional development for teachers and leaders
-Establish relationships and community partnerships with local organizations that support social-emotional learning
-Collaborate with the Student Services Advisor and the Diversity and Equity Specialist to support the creation of an outline that intersects social emotional learning, cultural competencies and diversity in harmony with Catholic social teachings
-Lead social-emotional community outreach efforts for Omaha Catholic schools in collaboration with the building principals
-Serve on the Diversity and Equity Committee as a resource to the team
-Provide support to leaders in development of strategic planning goals related to social-emotional learning and how it can support recruitment and retention of our student populations
-Collaborate with the CSO in using the MTSS framework to support diversity and equity across all of our Catholic schools
-Monitor progress of schools’ equity processes through data supports such as CASEL, SHAPE and NeMTSS
-Support the conflict mediation support system for schools to use when conflict arises
-Coach classroom teachers, using the Impact Cycle, on the integration of social-emotional learning and development within the classroom

Education and Experience
Education and Experience Required:
• A minimum of 5 years teaching experience
• A valid Nebraska teaching license

• Administrative or program leadership experience
• Master’s degree in related field
• Knowledge or experience in social-emotional development
