Get to Know: Maureen Hoy, principal at Mary Our Queen
Get to Know…
Maureen Hoy, principal at Mary Our Queen in Omaha, Nebraska.
We periodically bring you profiles of the great administrators and educators within our schools, and we think you’ll enjoy getting to know what drives their passion for serving others.
How long have you been a principal and what is your favorite part about the job?
I have served as principal of Mary Our Queen School for four years. I am humbled to have the opportunity to serve the wonderful families and students of this community. I am also blessed to work with amazingly talented teachers and support staff. Their dedication, faith and passion for this profession inspire me daily.
How would you describe the value of Catholic education?
We are able to truly educate the WHOLE child in an environment with God at its center. Gospel values and social justice teachings are infused into every subject inspiring students to see God’s light in themselves and others. Teachers partner with parents and lead children to truly know God’s unending, unbending love. A Catholic education pairs faith with knowledge and prepares our students to share their gifts as they live the Good News.
What are some ways in which you express your faith at work and at home?
I try to live the values of our faith at work and home in areas of prayer, service and love.
Can you tell us a unique fact about yourself?
I love winter and enjoy shoveling snow.
Let’s pretend educators have any spare time. What is your favorite thing to do?
Time with family and friends is the best!
