Department: Office Staff - School Nurse
Reports to: Principal

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

- Assess and treat ill staff and students.
- Administer daily prescribed medications and over-the-counter medications as needed.
- Maintain records of asthma/allergies and emergency medications for students with these conditions, communicate these conditions to appropriate staff.
- Perform vision and health screenings as required by the health department.
- Develop care plans for students with ongoing conditions.
- Monitor and report student physical and immunization records.
- Consult and collaborate with teachers and school administrators regarding policies and student care.
- Educate students and staff on health-related procedures and topics.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Monitor guidance, implement policies and communicate with students, staff, and parents regarding COVID and other communicable diseases.
- Displays good oral and written communication skills with students, parents, and school staff.
- Attends and participates in designated Staff Meetings, Professional Development events, designated school committees, etc.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
- Supports the mission of the school and upholds the teachings of the Catholic faith.

Education and Experience
- Current Registered Nurse license
- BSN preferred.
- BLS/CPR certification.
- Knowledge of state health regulations.
- Knowledge of various areas of health, including community health and mental health.
- Knowledge of school policies.
- Ability to communicate and work well with others.
- Completion of a background check and Safe Environment training.
- Verification of U.S. Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States.
