Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Upholds and follows the Criteria of Sacred Heart education.

• Responsible for all functions of finance and operations, including Human Resources and other responsibilities for functions of the business office, following priorities set by the Head of School and the Finance Committee of the Board.

• Responsible for accounting and financial reporting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.

• Responsible for upgrading current accounting , evaluation and RFP process for possible new insurance provider and audit firm

• Oversees human resources functions including policies, benefits, contracts, hiring process and employee law.

• Responsible for management of and works for maximum efficiency in all aspects of the School's budgeting processes and reporting: Drafting and revisions of the annual budget; preparation of long-range projections for the school's finances, including assessment of risk.

• Responsible for management of cash and collections systems: management of cash to maximize return while preserving capital and maintaining adequate available funds; Collection of receivables including deposits and tuition, ensuring that accounts in arrears are handled appropriately.

• Responsible for all negotiations of billing schedules and set up of all contracts.

• Oversees management and planning of major and cyclical renewal of facilities with the Building and Grounds Committee.

• Oversees management of Business Office operations with Development Office: Works closely with Development Director to record and document fundraising efforts; Provides guidance to donors on stock transfers and matching gifts;

• Partners with the Development Office on Duchesne's major fundraising event, financial records and raffle ticket process.

• Participates as a member of the school's administration leadership team.

• Serves on the Finance and Buildings and Grounds Committees of the Board of Trustees.

Education and Experience
Business and/or Accounting Degree required; master's degree preferred

More about this position:
The Chief Financial Officer upholds the mission of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools as expressed in the Goals and Criteria of Duchesne Academy. He/she is responsible to the Head of School for managing the school ' s financial and human resources in a prudent and careful manner, and through the Head of School to the Board of Trustees for the fiduciary oversight and management of the school's resources. She/he understands the mission, standards and employee policies of the schools, contributes to their formulation and evaluation, and is able to interpret them to others. The CFO demonstrates leadership by consistently providing valuable counsel for the future to the Head of School and through the Head of School to the Board of Trustees. This person collaborates directly with the Head of School for the non- educational operations of the schools on a day-to -day basis.
