Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Custodian
St. Bernard School is seeking a hard-working individual to join our maintenance team. Hours for this
part-time position are from 7:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday during the school year, with additional hours
possible in the summer. Occasional evening or weekend hours during school or parish sponsored events
may be required.
Responsibilities
Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting
surfaces
Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
Wash and sanitize toilets, urinals, and sinks and restock disposables (soap, towels, tissue)
Wipe mirrors and windows
Secure facilities after hours by turning off lights, closing windows, and locking doors
Undertake occasional additional tasks (shoveling snow from the sidewalk, lifting heavy items,
moving chairs etc.)
Periodic setup/take down for School and/or Parish Events (tarping gym floor and setting
tables/chairs and AV Equipment)
Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager, Principal or Pastor

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work independently, following direction from Maintenance Manager, Principal or
Pastor
Familiarity with use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
Attention to detail and conscientious use of time in completing assigned tasks
Very good physical condition and strength
Must pass Safe Environment Training and Background Check provided by the Archdiocese of
Omaha
Education and Experience
High school diploma
Experience as custodian/janitor, preferred
