Principal Duties and Responsibilities

St. Wenceslaus Catholic Elementary School, the Archdioceses largest preschool to 8th-grade elementary school located in West Omaha, is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Principal for the 2024-25 school year.
The Assistant Principal assists the principal with the operation of the school’s mission, goals, and daily execution of the running of the school. These duties include overseeing the staff composed of teachers, Instructional Paras, Extended Care, and cafeteria workers as well as the office staff including administrative assistant, receptionist, and nurses. The Assistant works with the principal to implement operational management of a school with 900 students.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Supervises instruction and evaluation of teachers and Instructional Paras for their effectiveness in teaching and managing the classroom.
Oversees staff development in both the educational and faith development of teachers and staff
Assists with the accreditation of the school according to the Nebraska Department of Education Standards
Demonstrates well-developed written and oral communication skills
Familiar with and confident in technology systems (Smartboards, laptops, document cameras, etc.)
Understanding of and flexibility in adjusting to schedule changes
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Works with resource teachers and counselors to ensure the least restrictive environment for all the students to thrive in
Is a role model for staff and students with their strong Catholic Identity by participating in faith development, incorporating the Catholic faith into all their actions, and their involvement in Mass, adoration, exposition, and benediction as well as daily prayer, reciting the rosary, quarterly reconciliation, and adoration.
Supports and follows the teachings of the Catholic Church and policies and procedures of the Archdiocese of Omaha.
Provides supervision of school-sponsored events and activities
Promotes an orderly school environment and student self-discipline

Education and Experience
Strong belief in and living the Catholic faith
Bachelor Degree
Master’s Degree in Education Administration
Possesses a valid teacher and administrative certification from the State of Nebraska
A minimum of five years of teaching experience is preferred.
Complete a background check and the Archdiocese of Omaha required Safe Environment training
Proven leadership skills with experience in leading staff in professional development or in-service training
