Principal Duties and Responsibilities

St. Matthew Catholic School is offering a one-time $1,000 signing bonus to full-time teachers who sign a contract for the 2024-2025 school year.

Position title- Middle School ELA teacher

Reports to: Principal

Effective Date- 2024-2025 School Year

Position Status- Full Time

St. Matthew Catholic school is currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school for the position of Middle School ELA (6-8). The English Language Arts teacher at St. Matthew Catholic school plays a crucial role in fostering language development, literacy skills, and a love for literature while integrating Catholic teachings and values into the curriculum.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive ELA curriculum aligned with grade-level standards and the school’s educational values.
Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and morals into ELA instruction, connecting literature and language arts to the faith-based mission of the school.
Create diverse and culturally responsive lessons that promote critical thinking, communication skills, and a love for reading and writing.
Provide engaging and dynamic instruction that caters to various learning styles and abilities.
Manage classroom activities, transitions, and behavior effectively, fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere.
Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student understanding and progress in ELA skills.
Effectively observes assigned work hours-maintaining a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.
Maintains a cooperative working relationship with the Principal, staff, and public.
Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Education and Experience
Bachelor degree in Education with an endorsement in 7-12 ELA.
Valid Nebraska state teaching certificate with 7-12 ELA endorsement.
Must complete an archdiocesan background check. (required)
Safe Environment training. (required)
Previous experience teaching ELA, preferably in a Catholic or faith-based school.
