Position Description Summary

St. Matthew Catholic School is offering a one-time $1,000 signing bonus to full-time teachers who sign a contract for the 2024-2025 school year.

St. Matthew Catholic school is currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school for the position of Middle School Social Studies teacher (6-8). The Social Studies teacher at St. Matthew Catholic school plays a crucial role in developing student knowledge in history, geography, sociology and political science while integrating Catholic teachings and values into the curriculum.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive Social Studies curriculum aligned with grade-level standards and the school’s educational values.
Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and morals into Social Studies instruction, connecting history and geography to the faith-based mission of the school.
Create diverse and culturally responsive lessons that promote critical thinking, communication skills, and a love for the social sciences.
Provide engaging and dynamic instruction that caters to various learning styles and abilities.
Manage classroom activities, transitions, and behavior effectively, fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere.
Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student understanding and progress in Social Studies skills.
Effectively observes assigned work hours-maintaining a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.
Maintains a cooperative working relationship with the Principal, staff, and public.
Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Education and Experience
Bachelor degree in Education with an endorsement in 7-12 Social Studies
Valid Nebraska state teaching certificate with 7-12 Social Studies endorsement
Must complete an archdiocesan background check. (required)
Safe Environment training. (required)
Previous experience teaching Social Studies, preferably in a Catholic or faith-based school.
