Principal Duties and Responsibilities

St. Matthew is seeking assistants for our after school extended care program. Assistants are responsible for helping to provide a safe, engaging, and positive experience for children in grades P-8. Our morning program runs from 6:30am-7:40am and our afternoon program runs from 3:00pm-6:00pm on school days with extended hours on early out school days. Hours are flexible.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Has a basic understanding of the social-emotional norms for children ages 4-14
Must be comfortable interacting with children and with parents and other caregivers if needed
Must be able to be or already have completed Safe Environment Training (class offered by employer)
Must complete required DHHS online training (paid by the employer)
Must complete a DHHS background check including fingerprinting and Central Registry check

Extended Care applicants over the age of 19 are preferred

Education and Experience
High school diploma required plus 1500 hours of experience with organized group activities for young children OR hold an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development.
