Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Jr. High Language Arts teacher plans, guides, and evaluates the learning process of 7th and 8th grade students within the framework of the standards and curriculum established by the Archdiocese of Omaha and the State of Nebraska. The LA teacher understands the need for continued reading instruction and has the ability to teach reading, writing, and vocabulary skills that enable students to make a successful transition to high school.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Set measurable, ambitious, and attainable goals for the year and each interim assessment cycle
• Develop and implement daily lesson plans as part of a long-term scope and sequence aligned to the curricular goals of MOQ and Omaha Archdiocese standards
• Conduct interim assessments, track student progress, and perform regular data analysis to determine student mastery and diagnose areas of conceptual misunderstanding
• Use a variety of rigorous formative and summative assessments to evaluate individual academic progress and adjust instructional plans to meet the needs of students
• Employ a variety of creative, differentiated, and research-based instructional strategies that ensure students are actively engaged in meaningful and rigorous learning
• Provide grade appropriate extended or enrichment opportunities
• Exhibit a love of literature, knowledge of YA books, and a passion for reading and writing
Effectively integrate technology into instruction

Education and Experience
NE Teacher Certification
Middle School and High School teaching experience preferred
Practicing Catholic
