Welcome Tracey Kovar
The Catholic Schools office is excited to welcome Tracey Kovar as Student Services Advisor, a newly created role that will expand resources to better serve all students.
Tracey comes to our office from St. Margaret Mary School as Learning Services Coordinator where she worked for five years, and she has many years of experience in special education before that. She holds a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from UNO, and Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University-Nebraska.
Tracey will be a tremendous asset our team and has a real passion for serving others: “I feel strongly that Catholic education should be accessible to all children, regardless of disability. My favorite part of student services is advocating for students with disabilities…being able to work with non-traditional learners, sharing their joys, building them up when they feel defeated and supporting them in reaching their potential,” she said.
We sat down with Tracey recently to learn a few more things about her:
Q. What are some ways you express your faith in your life?
A. I express my faith at school and work through prayer, reflection and kindness toward all. At home, we regularly pray together and our family, almost always, attends Mass as a group. Even our high school daughters will attend 7:30am Mass with us versus going later in the day on their own. We are one of the few families at 7:30am Mass at Holy Cross with teenagers.
Q. What else would like you like to share about your personal life?
A. My husband and I have wanderlust. We love exploring new places. We always look for Catholic connections in our travels. Two years ago, during the Jubilee year, we visited the Cathedral-Basilica Notre Dame de Quebec, the oldest church in North America and the only permanent Holy Door outside of Europe. This summer we have planned a pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Fatima in Portugal. There is something very powerful in sharing these experiences with Catholics from around the world.
Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Tracey into this new role. If your school or family is in need of assistance, please reach out to Tracey via phone at 402-557-5600. In the meantime, one outside resource we can share is https://www.readworks.org/.
