Seniors say what they’ve enjoyed most about Norfolk Catholic

Two high school seniors from Norfolk Catholic share their Catholic school experiences with us and why they love their school. As graduation nears, we’d like to congratulate the entire class of 2019. The future is bright!

As the school year comes to an end we remember all of the good memories we have and all the times my school has influenced me to build relationships and become a better individual. I have attended Norfolk Catholic since preschool and in a few days graduating from, in my opinion, one of the most outstanding Catholic schools in the area. Going to a Catholic school has greatly influenced me and my abilities to build my character to the best it can be. We are taught that having good relationships with others and being respectful, kind, and empathetic to everyone, that we then can be the best version of ourselves. Although my school has benefited me in many ways inside the school, they have also helped me outside of my school life. Earlier in the year, my dad had been diagnosed with a rare type of cancer that left him unable to work for many months. When the school found out that our family had been going through this hardship they immediately reached out to us and wanted to help us ease the struggle. The school held a mission jeans day for my dad to help with the large cost of all the treatments and medical bills. This really stood out by showing me that our school doesn’t just educate, but connects with us to make sure we’re well off outside of school as well as performing well in class. I can honestly say that I am extremely grateful for the experience I’ve had going to a Catholic school and wouldn’t trade my time at Norfolk Catholic for the world. I know that Norfolk Catholic has made me into the person I am today, someone who is independent, faithful, and knowledgeable. Not only did Norfolk Catholic give me the gift of an amazing education but they also gave me all the skills needed to continue my life as a faithful catholic and a well-rounded individual.

Being a part of a Catholic school has been one of the greatest blessings in my life. I have been taught many valuable life lessons that will benefit me in my future, no matter where I go in life. I have been taught to be accepting and loving of everyone I meet and spread God’s love to others. I have also been taught how to grow in my faith and encourage others to do the same. The summer before my freshman year, I had the amazing opportunity to attend JC Camp as a requirement through Norfolk Catholic in order to be confirmed. JC Camp taught me how to strengthen my relationship with God and how to resist all of the temptations that come with high school. Since JC Camp affected my life so much, I chose to return two more times as a member of the JC Camp team. This allowed me to inspire and help incoming freshman learn about their faith just like I had my own freshman year. Norfolk Catholic allowed me to grow in my faith life and help others to the same. I know that I would have not been granted this same opportunity anywhere else and I am grateful that my parents chose to send me to Norfolk Catholic.
